WalkAndUnlock is a personal wellness app for iOS that helps you manage your own app usage by tying access to your walking progress. This policy explains what data the app and website collect, how it is used, and how it is protected.

The short version: most app data stays on your device and is never transmitted. If you join the website waitlist, we collect the contact details you submit so we can send launch and product update emails. We do not sell your personal data.

If you submit the waitlist form on the WalkAndUnlock website, we collect the information you provide in that form, which may include your name and email address.

We use this information to maintain the product waitlist and to send launch announcements and related product updates. You can stop receiving these emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us directly.

The following data is stored locally on your device only and is never uploaded to external servers:

• App selections.The apps you choose to manage with WalkAndUnlock are handled via Apple’s Family Controls and Screen Time APIs. This data never leaves your device.
• Family Controls and Screen Time data.Any app-identity or usage data accessed through Apple’s Family Controls framework is used entirely on-device to enforce your personal walking requirements. It is not stored in the cloud and not shared with us or any third party.
• Step and walking data. Step count data from your device is read locally to determine when your walking goal has been met. It is not uploaded or transmitted.

To support settings persistence and account continuity across reinstalls, WalkAndUnlock may store a small amount of non-app-identifying metadata in the cloud:

• Account creation date and identifier
• General app settings and preferences (not linked to any specific app identity)
• Aggregate walking progress summaries — such as streaks or step totals — that do not identify which apps were unlocked

This data does not include the names or identities of any apps you manage with WalkAndUnlock and cannot be used to reconstruct your app usage.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or third-party analytics.

App-specific Family Controls data and app selections are never transmitted to us or any external service.

Website waitlist form submissions are processed by Formspark on our behalf so the form can accept and store signup requests. Formspark processes only the data you submit through that form.

WalkAndUnlock is designed exclusively for individuals managing their own device usage. The app uses Apple’s Family Controls framework for personal self-management purposes only — not for parental controls, remote monitoring, or supervising another person’s device.

WalkAndUnlock uses the following Apple system frameworks:

• Family Controls — to allow you to select and restrict your own apps based on your walking progress
• HealthKit / CoreMotion — to read step count data from your device for walking goal tracking

These permissions are requested only to provide core app functionality. Data accessed through these frameworks is not shared or stored beyond what is described in this policy.

On-device data is retained for as long as the app is installed. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.

Cloud-stored account and settings metadata is retained until you delete your account. To request deletion, contact us at the email below.

Waitlist contact information is retained until it is no longer needed for launch and product update communications, or until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

WalkAndUnlock is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, please contact us so we can remove it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
